About

I’m writing this as a first timer – so here goes nothing.

I’m a college journalism in my senior year – YAY! In my capstone I’ve been assigned to make at least ten postings on a personal blog. The subject must pertain to the border between the United States and Mexico.

As you can imagine I came up with a whole list of ideas ….border security, day in the life of a Border Patrol agent, how many illegal immigrants can I meet, etc.

But realistically I don’t have the time or the authority to pursue these topics. So I started to think on the creative side. What else comes here from across the border?

FOOD! I am a die-hard mexican food fan. I would eat it everyday if I didn’t have to concern myself with what my roommates would like to eat as well. Sidenote: when I say mexican food I am not referring to Taco Bell, Chipotle, or Del Taco.

It so happens that I am one of the lucky few whose boyfriend’s Hispanic mother, Carmen, makes homemade Mexican food, from scratch! Carmen is originally from a small town in Mexico called Granados.

My cooking mentor and me

She has graciously agreed to teach me her Sonoran style cooking secrets.

This blog will chronicle my adventure through the tasty world of Mexican food, complete with recipes. I am most excited about learning to make flour tortillas from scratch. So for those of you who also have a fond appreciation of Mexican food, join me for an insiders look of mexican food from an original creator.

Also be sure to keep an eye out for comical videos of my sure to be future cooking fiascos and mishaps.

Buen Provecho!
